Avidemux is a freeware movie editor that provides tools for a variety of digital video editing tasks, such as cutting sequences, improving video quality or creating special effects by applying filters, adding or removing movie audio tracks, and encoding video to a number of popular formats, including .AVI, .MP4, .ASF and Flash video.

Available as a free download under the GNU license from the Avidemux video editor webpage, this movie editing software is cross-platform, and runs on both PC and Mac computers. Avidemux builds are also available for Linux.

Using Avidemux Video Editing Freeware

While Avidemux does have powerful command line scripting capabilities, the majority of its video editing tools are available from the menus, timeline and drop-downs featured in the software's interface. The interface contains 3 dropdown menus, being Video, Audio and Format, for codec encoding, audio encoding and selecting the output format respectively.
